Hello Brides! Today I want to talk about my unique dress buying experience. As I was searching bridal shows in my area I stumbled across an event called Brides Against Breast Cancer. I was immediately intrigued, especially after I read about it!
What is it?
Brides Against Breast Cancer is an affiliate of the Health Support Network. This is an amazing company that provides information, support and different programs to cancer patients, caregivers and families. They also provide a network service that connects individuals who are going through similar experiences.
The revenue made at Brides Against Breast Cancer goes to the Health Support Network! Pretty cool right?

So, these are all donated, gently used wedding gowns, BEAUTIFUL gowns! And (as a very budgeted bride) HEAVILY discounted!!! My mom, sister (MOH), future mother in law and I all met at the hotel where the event was being held. We registered and continued to a small bridal show that had different vendors. There were photographers, travel agents, makeup artists, DJs, ect. We got a bunch of pamphlets and LOTS of information. After walking around the smaller sized bridal show we were released to the bridal gown area! One of the nice parts about this event is that the brides are assigned times to look at gowns so there are not 50 girls after your dream gown. |
Another nice thing about it is that we were not surrounded by a bunch of sales people and pressured to try on expensive gowns that are not my style! We were able to look at our leisure and try on whatever we wanted! Think RELAXED bridal experience!
Now, this is not the fanciest of bridal shopping experiences as the dressing rooms are makeshift in a hotel ballroom. However, the relaxed nature of the event was right up my alley! There was a seamstress to talk to if we needed to ask question and different consultants to give opinions, very friendly!
After the 15th or so dress we went out to the racks one more time and my future mother in law pulled a gorgeous dress that had EVERYTHING I was looking for!!
I tried it on and absolutely fell in love with it! With my sister/maid of honor's reassurance I said YES TO THE DRESS! They rang a bell, everyone cried and they brought in champagne for everyone!
The real celebration came when we got the the check out counter and only paid $450 for an Augusta Jones Designer Gown! And we got to take it home THAT day, no ordering and waiting, its hanging in my future mother in laws closet so I can sneak a peak whenever I want!!

While, I'll admit this probably isn't the right way to dress shop for everyone. But for this laid back, budgeted bride, it was awesome!! I am so happy with my experience and really want to share this fantastic, charitable, company! Check it out as they travel the country and could be near you sometime soon!!
