Meet The Teacher
I am a first grade teacher in Maryland. I am a University of Maryland alumni… Go Terps! This is going to be my third year of teaching. I absolutely love teaching and finally feel I am getting my bearings in this profession. In the fall I am starting grad school going for a masters in reading with a reading specialist certificate.
My school is HUGE! We have 6 first grade teachers and are expected to have about 900 students walk through our doors in August!! My school is also title 1 which has it's advantages (amazing support and great resources) and disadvantages (LOTS of pressure and heart wrenching stories of our students' lives). My school has a high ESOL population which has challenged me in so many ways that I wouldn't change for the world!
My classroom is unique as we are a 1:1 classroom. I have 30 iPads in my class that has completely changed the way I teach. It has been a fun year of learning how best to integrate technology into my classroom. It's exciting because education is making big changes with common core and technology. I hope to learn more about how to teach, inspire and foster a love for learning in the 21st century learner.
